Colliding Dreams

Colliding Dreams

We live at a moment in time when the conflict continues to be of overwhelming social and political importance. From its inception, that conflict has also, obviously, had deeply troubling and powerful consequences for Palestinians and Israelis . The narrative at its most basic level is the one which involves two peoples fighting for saying and recognition at a small but richly significant piece of land. The catastrophe of this particular history, as the Israeli novelist, Amos Oz, and also the Allied scholar, Sari Nusseibeh, have each pointed out, comes from a conflict involving the rights of two peoples with equal and legitimate aspirations to nationhood and self-expression at one small land to which they could both lay claim.
